With progression of the disease, granular stippling may be seen side-by-side with multiple collar button ulcers as demonstrated in this radiograph. It is typical to see such evolving phases of the disease as it progresses, usually in a continuous retrograde direction from the rectum to the cecum. The rectum is involved in over 95% of cases.
